The Historic Ships in Baltimore is a maritime museum located within the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. The museum provides tourists with the opportunity to walk the decks of four museum ships and one lighthouse. All of the historic ships & lighthouses are listed on the National Register of Historic, with three ships being recognized as National Historic Landmarks.
The Historic Ships in Baltimore feature the following landmarks for you to check out; USS Constellation, she is the only surviving ship from the Civil War Era and is a must see attraction in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. LV116 Chesapeake, was one of the more modern U.S. Lighthouse Service ships of its time from 1930-1964. USS Torsk, was the foundation of the US Navy’s Submarine force for World War II. The ship patrolled in and around Japan during the war. The final ship at the Historic Ships in Baltimore is the USCGC Taney, this was a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter that was built in the mid-1930’s to be used for law enforcement missions, search and rescue, and maritime patrol. The final landmark at the Historic Ships in Baltimore is the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse, which was manned by keepers of the U.S. Lighthouse Service and the U.S. Coast Guard.
