Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is located on the grounds of one of America’s most famous racetracks, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Museum highlights the extensive history of the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 from over the years, though it also exhibits other motorsports cars and automotive history. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum was established in 1975 and in recent years has averaged roughly one million visitors per year.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum features some incredible cars from over the years at the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400. The Museum has approximately 75 cars on display across the 37,500 square feet of display. Within the car collection there are over 30 Indianapolis 500 winning cars, including Ray Harroun’s, 1911 Marmon Wasp which was the winner of the inaugural Indianapolis 500. Also within the collection is the 2005 Panoz/Honda driven by Danica Patrick, who was the first female driver to lead a lap in the Indianapolis 500.

Outside of cars themselves the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has a tremendous collection of trophies, plaques, helmets, gloves and drivers suits. The museum also features a Hall of Fame that dates back to 1952. The museum is located in the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and is open year-round except for Christmas Day and Thanksgiving. Located just outside of the downtown core the museum is easily accessible by car or public transit.
